Tigers bounced from tourney

HERSHEY — Hollidaysburg fell to Council Rock North, 3-0, in the PIAA Class 3A team tennis quarterfinals Friday.

Two matches were not completed when the overall match was decided.

“It was a great run,” Hollidaysburg coach Brian Denis said. “All good things must come to an end, but I couldn’t be more proud of this group of boys. There are four teams now left in the state, and they are all from (the) Philadelphia (area). We hung right in there with one of them in a very competitive match.

“We would have had to have several breaks go our way, but I am really happy with how my guys didn’t back down and gave it their all. This was the greatest season we have ever had for the boys team here at Hollidaysburg, and one in which these kids will remember forever. This team, especially the seniors, have really left their fingerprints on the program. What a successful four years they have had, and we are going to miss them tremendously.”
