Ridge, Everett split

NEW PARIS — Kristen Ewing’s two-out line single in the bottom of the sixth drove in Taylor Sobzack with the go-ahead run, and Jacie Martin retired Chestnut Ridge in the top of the seventh with the potential tying tally at second as Everett came back to get a split of a high school softball doubleheader on Wednesday pitting the top two teams in the Sideling Hill League against each other.

Everett won the second game, 3-2. Ridge only needed 41/2 innings to post a 14-3 victory in the first game.

Martin held the Lady Lions — who combined for 14 hits in the opening game — to four hits in the nightcap, while Sobzack and Brooke Colledge each got two hits for the Lady Warriors. Makayla Weyant had two hits for the Lady Lions, supporting Kayla Diehl’s six-hit pitching.

Samantha Baney fronted Ridge in the opening game with three hits and three RBIs, while Attie Milliron collected three hits and two RBIs, and Lydia Mock record two hits and two RBIs for the Lady Lions. Sydney Reffner homered for Everett, and Brittany Ewing doubled and singled.

IRVONA — Madison Lukehart and Lexi Mulhollen each drove in a run for Glendale, which beat Northern Cambria at Elderberry Park in a game that was shortened by rain.

Madison Lukehart, Makenzie Lukehart and Brooke Smeal each doubled for the Lady Vikings, and Mulhollen had two hits and picked up the pitching win. Northern Cambria’s Ashlee Parish had two hits.

Proceeds from the game benefited the search for a cure to childhood cancer.
