Panthers edge Highlanders in LHAC battle

CRESSON — Casey Reese struck out 10 and walked just one, while her sister, Sydnie Reese, delivered a two-run double during a three-run fifth in Penn Cambria’s 3-2 win over Laurel Highlands Conference rival Cambria Heights in area high school softball on Friday.

The Lady Panthers (10-2) also got an RBI single from Lexi Strasser. Heights (9-2) got two hits from Ari Westrick and an RBI single from Emma Stockley.

Hailey Domanick drove in three runs for the Damsels, while Aubrey Dotts, Chloe Blake and Leah Anderson each had two RBIs on two hits. Paige Beam was a triple shy of batting the cycle for Juniata Valley.

EVERETT — Brooke Colledge’s grand slam highlighted Everett’s offensive explosion in the second game of an ICC South/Sideling Hill League doubleheader in which the Lady Warriors amassed 20 hits in a 20-2 win over Southern Fulton.

The Lady Warriors were 6-1 winners in the opener behind Jacie Martin’s four-hit, 11-strikeout pitching.

Colledge knocked in five runs in the second game, while Alex Iseminger garnered four RBIs. Colledge, Sydney Reffner, Brittany Ewing and Shelby Schleinkofer had three hits apiece for Everett.

Colledge collected three hits and two RBIs in the first game, and Kristen Ewing homered.
