Neimand delivers key hits for BMG

Julius Neimand had two hits and an RBI to lead BMG Construction to a 4-2 win over Sheetz Tuesday night in a Greater City League game at Vets Field.

Robbie Yahner had two hits and an RBI for Sheetz. Losing pitcher Jordan Rabits struck out 12 but walked six.

n Mark Saxman’s solo homer in the bottom of the seventh tied the game, then Josh Wyandt’s fourth hit of the game plated Ben Foose with the winning run with no outs in the bottom of the eighth as Blair County Oil topped Shields Trophy, 5-4, at Vets Field.

Saxman and Sean Steffy came up with two hits and two RBIs apiece for Blair County Oil, which trailed, 3-0, heading into the bottom of the third. Shields Trophy’s John Fanelli delivered a double, a single and an RBI.

NORTHERN CAMBRIA — Kyle Glass drove in three runs, while Noah Muthler had three htis and an RBI to lead Claysburg past Northern Cambria, 14-1, in five innings, in a Cambria County American Legion game.

It was the season opener for both clubs.

Winning pitcher Caleb Gampe — who struck out seven and did not walk a batter — also had two hits and two RBIs to go with two hits and two RBIs from Larry Corle.

Cooper Guyer and Wes McCall each drove in two runs to help unbeaten Professionals Auto Body beat Locker Room, 6-4, in an Altoona Teener League 14-15-year-old game.

Cam Mauk threw four innings to earn the win, and McCall finished up for the save. Baylon Casteel had two RBIs for Locker Room.

One of Gattrell’s hits was an inside-the-park home run.

Winning pitcher Brady Hibbs struck out six and gave up one hit in three innings.

MARTINSBURG — Jacob Detwiler had two hits and three RBIs to lead Spring Cove B to a 16-6 win in five innings over Altoona A in an Area 4 VFW 13-14 game.

Winning pitcher Lambert Palmer struck out four in three innings. Altoona A got three RBIs from Alexander Yost.

n Camden Lafferty singled home two runs in the bottom of the sixth as Two Twenty Studios beat Northern Bedford, 7-6, at Drost Field.

Austin Beauchamp, who got the win in relief, struck out six.

n Josh Biesinger, Devon Boyles and Rylan Daugherty delivered three hits each, and Boyles combined with Luke Bettwy and Eli Lingenfelter on a three-hitter as Spring Cove A downed Hollidaysburg B, 15-2, at Longer Field.

Tyler Oakes chipped in with a pair of hits for Spring Cove.
