CLAYSBURG — Dominic Francona’s RBI single that scored Connor Oakes in the first inning was all that Claysburg-Kimmel needed as it blanked West Branch, 1-0, in an Inter-County Conference North Division high school baseball game on Tuesday.

Winning pitcher Corey Chamberlain struck out eight, walked two and scattered six hits, while Francona added another single, and Seth Musselman collected two singles for the Bulldogs.

EBENSBURG — Nick Knopp and Devin Renzi homered, but it wasn’t nearly enough to overcome the Forest Hills onslaught as Central Cambria dropped a pair of games in Laurel Highlands Conference action.

In the first game, Nick Peretin homered and knocked in five runs, while Brian Bernard went 4-for-4, and Kyler Swires tallied four RBIs in Forest Hills’ 18-3, three-inning victory. Renzi doubled, and Knopp drove in two runs.

Seth Richardson and Evan Kundrod combined to limit the Red Devils to six hits in the nightcap, which Forest Hills took by an 8-1 count. Kyler Swires homered for Forest Hills, and he and Adam Cecere each drove in a pair of runs. Central Cambria’s Marc Garzarelli was 2-for-3.

HUNTINGDON — Nick Zanic’s two-out double in the top of the seventh scored Casey Conner with what turned out to be the winning run, and Huntingdon went on to sweep its Mountain League doubleheader with Philipsburg-Osceola at Juniata College.

Jared Showalter went 5-for-7 over the two games for Huntingdon, driving in three runs. Nick Holesa homered for the 17-1 Bearcats in the second game, while Drew Weglarz had two hits and starting pitcher Rece Ritchey fanned 11.
