Blue Devils capture two from Hornets

BELLWOOD — Bellwood-Antis took two from Juniata Valley in a meeting of top Inter-County Conference North Division high school baseball teams Monday.

The Blue Devils shut out Juniata Valley, 5-0, in a completion of a suspended game. Travis Luensman doubled and struck out nine for the Bellwood win.

Troy Walker also had an RBI in the first game and continued that in the second by driving in three runs to lead the Bellwood offense to an 8-3 win. Trent Walker went 2-of-4 with two runs scored.

MOUNT UNION — Kyle Glass scattered seven hits and walked just one and helped himself at the plate with a pair of hits to lead Claysburg-Kimmel to an ICC North win at Mount Union.

C-K’s Tanner Hunt went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs, while Canaan Burket and Seth Musselman both contributed two hits. Mount Union’s Dylan Gearhart hit a solo homer, and Quinnten Fultz went 2-for-3.

PORTAGE — Jacob Irvin pitched a full seven innings for Portage, striking out six and only surrendering two runs in the top of the seventh as the Mustangs handed Central Cambria its 10th loss.

Irvin, Jackson Kozlovac, Zach Wiggins, Seth Georg, and Tom Randazzo each had RBIs for Portage (10-6), with Irvin’s coming by way of a solo home run.

CRESSON — Danny Potopa drove in the tying run in the top of the seventh, and, with three runs in the eighth, Bishop Guilfoyle was able to pull away from pesky Bishop Carroll for the Laurel Highlands Conference win.

Potopa finished with two RBIs, and Danny Carrieri, Dominic Georgiana and Tyler Berkheimer each batted runs in for Guilfoyle in the eighth. Carrieri’s hit brought home Kenta Okada, who stole second after a leadoff single to move into scoring postition. Evan Becquet was 2-for-3 with a double for Carroll.
