Altoona spikes Guilfoyle

Phil Swartz had 13 kills and 19 digs, and Chris Ball had 22 assists and nine digs to lead Altoona in a 15-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-16 win over crosstown rival Bishop Guilfoyle in boys high school volleyball on Tuesday evening at the Pleasant Valley Gymnasium.

Masen Nartatez added 14 assists, and Tyler Barry had 10 digs for Altoona.

Charles Patterson finished with 15 kills for Guilfoyle, while Vincent Good had 27 assists and 10 digs.

‘Cats sweep Central

HUNTINGDON — Julian Groendendaal piled up 15 service points, 14 kills, six digs and three aces to lead Huntingdon to a 25-15, 25-17, 25-22 victory over visiting Central in volleyball.

Matias Berger added eight kills and five digs for the Bearcats, and Andrew Cooper dished out 25 assists. Kaven Gahagan collected nine kills for Central, which also received five blocks apiece from Alex Madden and Doug Shade.

Altoona Teener

Tyler Riley and Evan Alwine collected two hits and two RBIs each to lead J&P Auto Mart to a 10-0 win over Co“BRH”s II in an Altoona Teener 13-year-old baseball game at Seitz Field on Tuesday.

Winning pitcher Nicholas Kost surrendered just two hits and struck out six. Matherson Wansley also delivered two hits for J&P.
