Lady Dragons, Damsels notch lopsided victories

Central pounded out 15 hits in rolling past Altoona, 20-2, in high school softball on Tuesday afternoon at Logan Elementary School field.

Tori Longenecker had two hits, including a home run, and four RBIs, Cameryn Feathers delivered two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs, Olivia Smith had two hits and three RBIs, Maddi Metzler contributed three RBIs, Eva Rhule collected three hits and two RBIs, Ashley Negley had two hits and two RBIs, and winning pitcher Jenna Ritchey added three hits.

Alyson Adams, who hit a home run, and Jordyn Merritts each had two hits for Altoona.

On Monday, Central swept a doubleheader at Tyrone by winning 4-3 in the first game and taking the second, 15-0, in four innings.

TYRONE — McKenzie McCoy collected three hits and drove in four runs to lead Moshannon Valley to its first win in seven games this season.

The Damsels, who scored in every inning but the second, also got two hits and two RBIs each from Aubry Dotts and Kendra Merritt.

Merritt also homered. Tyrone got two hits and three RBIs from Grace Gensimore to go with three hits and an RBI from Ella Pearson.

Haley Schmidt hit a homer and singled in the first game for the Lady Blue Devils. Meanwhile, Kaitlyn Knisely’s double was the lone hit for B-A in the nightcap.
