Juniata Valley tops Williamsburg

ALEXANDRIA — Juniata Valley topped Williamsburg, 82-68, behind doubles wins from Devin Diehl (triple jump, pole vault) and Jefferson Hill (110 hurdles, 400 dash) in high school boys track and field Friday.

Dylan James won three events, the high jump, long jump and 200-meter dash, for Williamsburg. Trevor Butler also won the 1600- and 3200-meter dash for the Blue Pirates.

On the girls side, Juniata Valley won, 121-20, thanks in large part to Taylor Leidy’s four wins in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, 110-meter hurdles and long jump.

Maddie Beasom (javelin, pole vault), Mary Wilson (shot put, discus) and Claudia Sheetz (high jump, 3200-meter run) each won two events for the Lady Hornets.

Aliyah Ross won the 800- and 1600-meter runs for the Lady Pirates.

Altoona boys win

LOCK HAVEN — It was a good night for the Altoona boys and girls track and field teams at the Lock Haven Invitational, which was held at Lock Haven University.

The Altoona boys won the 23-team event with 103 points, finishing ahead of second-place Jersey Shore, which totaled 78 points. The Mountain Lions were led by the 400 relay team of Connor Adams, Isaiah Barnes, Bailey Musselman and Mitchell Lawhead, which won in 43.85.

Finishing in second place was Ben Tofano in the shot put (45-10.75). Taking home third-place honors were Adams in the long jump (20-9) and the 100 (11.59), Tyler Wagner in the triple jump (40-7.5), Liam D’Angelis in the pole vault (11-6), Lawhead in the 200 (23.20) and Barnes in the 110 hurdles (16.48).

The Altoona girls finished second out of 29 teams. The Lady Lions finished with 75 points. Athens High School won it with 89 points.

Altoona was led by Lindsey Hallinan and Rachel Krier. Hallinan took second in the discus (113-1) while Krier took second in the pole vault (9-0).

Gianna Caputo took third in the 100 hurdles (16.80) and the triple jump (33-9.75). Maddie Benton was third in the javelin (113-7) while Karlee Noel was third in the steeple chase (8:40.99).

Central teams beaten

WINGATE — The Central boys fell to Bald Eagle Area, 101-49, and Bellefonte, 113-37, in a Mountain League tri-meet.

The Central girls lost to Bald Eagle, 107-55, and Bellefonte, 98-52.

Camden Leach won the 110-meter high hurdles, and Colin Rupert won the javelin for the Central boys. Emma Lingenfelter won the 800 run, Jocie Miller won the javelin, and Lainie Heuston took the pole vault for the Central girls.

Correction

Jamyson Focht of Bellwood-Antis won the 100- and 200-meter dashes and was part of the winning 400-meter relay team during the Lady Blue Devils meet on Thursday.
