CLAYSBURG — Senior right-hander Jack Johnson pitched a one-hit shutout, striking out 12 batters and walking two, to lead Juniata Valley to a 3-0 Inter-County Conference North Division victory over host Claysburg-Kimmel in high school baseball on Monday.

Quinn Zinobile had three hits, including a triple, and scored twice for Valley, which improved to 7-1 overall. Claysburg dropped to 2-3 overall and 2-2 in the ICC.

FLINTON — Bellwood-Antis rode robust hitting to a 17-0, 16-0 Inter-County Conference North doubleheader sweep of Glendale in two games that lasted only three innings apiece because of the mercy rule.

Trentin Whaley had four RBIs on two hits, including a triple, and Travis Luensmann belted a three-run homer in the first game for Bellwood.

In the second game, Luensmann, Troy Walker, and Trentin Whaley drove home three runs apiece as Bellwood improved to 7-1 overall.

LOYSBURG — Southern Huntingdon put the bats to work, rocking Northern Bedford in a doubleheader with a combined 23 runs.

Southern won the opener, 12-1, with a pair of home runs from Matthew Parks and another from Mason Smith. Dustin Jones scored three runs for the Rockets.

In game two, the Rockets received extra-base hits from four different batters, Jones drove in three runs, and J.T. Knepper brought home two in an 11-0 Rocket win.
