Claysburg captures tourney title

H.S. softball

THREE SPRINGS — Madison Knisley hit a walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the Southern Huntingdon tournament for Claysburg-Kimmel, 10-9, over the host Lady Rockets in high school softball Saturday.

Emily Claar, who tripled in the second game and had two hits in the first game, was named the tournament’s MVP.

Jazmin Kennedy drove in three runs during the Lady Bulldogs’ 14-0 win over Homer-Center.

Emily Lehman homered and drove in three runs for Tyrone in its 14-6 victory over Homer-Center in the consolation game.

Emily Hamer drove in four runs over the two games, the first a 5-4 loss to Southern Huntingdon in which the Lady Rockets scored four runs in the seventh to rally for a victory.

Cate Baran and Lehman made the all-tourney team.

Penn Cambria tourney

CRESSON — Casey Reese collected six hits, drove in two runs and was the winning pitcher in the second game as Penn Cambria swept its own round-robin tournament with Central Cambria and Marion Center.

Syd Reese came up with six RBIs — three each in the Lady Panthers’ 9-0 win over Central Cambria and their 11-7 victory over Marion Center. Penn Cambria’s Alayana O’Donnell finished with two RBIs in each game, while Beth Klemen had five hits, and Lora Davis two hits in the first game and two RBIs in the second.

Central Cambria’s Sydney Forcellini singled three times against Penn Cambria, while Marion Center’s Hailey McCunn homered, singled three times and drove in five runs against the Lady Panthers. No details were reported from Marion Center’s 7-2 win over Central Cambria.
