TYRONE — Cate Baran threw a four-hitter with 13 strikeouts to help Tyrone edge Huntingdon, 5-3, in high school softball action on Wednesday.

Emily Lehman contributed two hits and two RBIs for Tyrone. Riley Confer drove in two runs for Huntingdon.

LIGONIER — Winning pitcher Dylan Claycomb helped out her own cause with two doubles, a home run and three RBIs as Central evened its record at 3-3 with a win at Ligonier Valley.

Olivia Smith added two hits and an RBI for Central, which scored three runs in the sixth inning to erase a 5-4 deficit.

Olivia Reese hit a three-run homer and drove in four runs overall, and Kristen Hewitt collected three hits and knocked in two runs, to lead undefeated Glendale to a three-inning mercy-rule victory over host Altoona at the Logan Elementary School Field.

Glendale, which improved to 4-0, also got two RBIs apiece from Taylor Duclo, Kennedy LeMaster and Lilley Vereshack.
