Altoona’s Swartz reaches milestone

Phil Swartz became the first Mountain Lion to ever record 1,000 career kills as Altoona swept visiting DuBois, 25-14, 25-16, 25-9, in high school volleyball on Thursday night.

Swartz registered 11 kills to go with 14 digs and nine service points, while Dalton Keller registered 11 service points, eight kills and seven digs. Altoona’s Jake McCloskey made six kills, Ben Parrish five blocks and Masen Nartatez 23 assists and five digs for the Lions.

JV: DuBois, 17-25, 25-19, 15-8. Micah Hamilton had 17 digs and Noah Ruggery four kills for Altoona (4-5).

Dragons fall at home

MARTINSBURG — Central still was seeking its first win after a 25-17, 25-19, 25-9 loss to visiting West Shamokin.

Alec Madden recorded nine kills and Kaven Gahagan eight for the Scarlet Dragons, while Doug Shade served up seven points.
