Lady Lions routed by Michigan

INDIANAPOLIS — Penn State saw its Big Ten Tournament come to an end late Thursday night with a 77-48 loss to Michigan in the second round.

The 11th-seeded Lady Lions fell behind early, trailing 15-10 after one quarter and 32-20 at the half, and they were never able to cut into the deficit in the second half.

Michigan outscored PSU 21-13 in the third quarter to push the lead to 53-33.

Teniya Page led Penn State with 12 points, but she was the only Lady Lion who scored more than eight.

Amari Carter had eight points, while Alisia Smith and Jaylen Williams had seven apiece.

Michigan (22-8) was led by Hallie Thome with 221 points, while Katelynn Flaherty had 21.

The Lady Lions head beaten Illinois in the first round of the tournament on Wednesday, 83-57, with Page scoring 38 points.

Against Michigan, the Lady Wolverines were in command the entire way and easily advanced to the third round, where they will face Nebraska.

Penn State finished 16-15 overall and 6-10 in the Big Ten. It’s doubtful the Lady Lions will receive a bid to any postseason tournaments.
