Huntingdon swimmers will keep busy at states
The Huntingdon swim team was already going to be busy when it goes to the PIAA state tournament the weekend of March 16-17, what with eight swimmers competing in a variety of events. It got a little bit more busy for them on Tuesday.
That was when two of the eight — Nick Buckley and Ben Atherton — found out they will be competing in additional events. Buckley will compete in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, events he finished second in this past weekend. Those times held up on Sunday and qualified him to be in the field of 32. The same goes for Atherton in the 200 freestyle, who also finished second in that event.
Buckley, Atherton, Andrew Edwards and Matias Berger will also compete together in the 200 free and 400 free relay.
On the girls side, Haley Goldstone will compete in the 50 free and 100 free. She will join Mallory Woodward, Sydney Houck and Jaelyn Mitchell to compete in the 400 free and 200 free relays.
The 2A state meet at Bucknell University is slated for March 16-17.
Hollidaysburg is competing in the 3A state meet March 14-15. Shania Evans will swim in the 100 breaststroke while Conor McKeirnan will swim in the 200 freestyle. Both Tiger swimmers won their respective events.
