Area stars to wrestle

JOHNSTOWN — The third annual Border Brawl Mason-Dixon Wrestling Classic, which will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Richland High School in Johnstown, features four wrestlers from Chestnut Ridge High School, two from Penn Cambria and one from Portage.

In all, 11 Pennsylvania school districts will be represented in the dual meet against Maryland and West Virginia wrestlers, which will be shown live online at

Wrestling for Pennsylvania will be Chestnut Ridge’s Seth Harbaugh (126 pounds), Scotty Miller (135), Justin McCoy (152) and Levi Hobson (182), Penn Cambria’s Brock Talko (138) and Jarred Stoy (160), and Portage’s Logan Shaffer (120).

The event will raise money for Pin Cancer, a wrestling-based charity that provides money for cancer research.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students at the door. The admission price includes a free clinic for youth wrestlers by legendary Pitt-Johnstown coach Pat Pecora and members of the Mountain Cats wrestling team. The clinic begins at 1:30 p.m. for wrestlers who are in eighth grade or younger.

North Star senior Keaton Furry, who was selected for the team before having to undergo emergency brain surgery, will serve as an honorary coach for the Pennsylvania team alongside Cougars coach Tim Rosa. Northern Garrett’s Casey Kamp, Mountain Ridge’s Allan Twigg and Keyser’s Colin Rotruck will coach the team from south of the Mason-Dixon Line.
