Northern Bedford advances to semis

MEYERSDALE — Alex Fouse (152) and Austin Mowry (170) picked up wins by pinfall to get the winning rolling for the Northern Bedford (11-7) high school wrestling team as it upset fourth-seeded Meyersale, 45-24, in the District 5 Class 2A team dual quarterfinals Thursday night.

Tristin Guyer (160) won by 9-5 decision for the Panthers while Jay Ebersole (220) and Kyle Guyer (285) each pinned their opponents.

The fifth-seeded Panthers will travel to Chesnut Ridge for the final day of the District 5 tournament on Saturday to take on the hosting and top-seeded Lions at 11 a.m, with the winner advancing to the afternoon championship dual.

BERLIN — The team dual season came to an end for the Everett Warriors, as they fell to Berlin Brothersvalley in the quarterfinals of the District 5 team duals tournament.

Everett opened strong with wins at 126 and 132 from Garret Cornell and Evan Brennan before the Warriors dropped four of the next five bouts.

Berlin will take on second-seeded North Star Saturday at 11 a.m at Chestnut Ridge High School. The winner will advance to the championship at 2 p.m. to face the winner of Northern Bedford and Chestnut Ridge.
