Wright sparks Mount women
CRESSON — The Mount Aloysius women’s college basketball team jumped out to a 29-15 first-quarter lead Saturday en route to a 71-55 win over Pitt-Bradford in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup.
Jessa Wright’s 27 points and 10 rebounds were tops for the Lady Mounties, who improved to 14-5.
Ali Rinfrette scored 29 points for Pitt-Bradford (11-9).
Lady Lions cruise to victory
The Penn State Altoona women’s team improved to 6-8 in the Allgheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, thanks to a 90-67 victory over D’Youville at the Adler Arena.
The Lady Lions, who led 49-37 at halftime, got 17 points from Shannon Zimmerman to go with 13 points from Finnley Christine. Teammate Alexis Cannistraci added 12 to go with 11 from Kaley Strittmater.
Ijonana Laster came off the bench to score 15 points to go with 12 more off the bench from Tierney Fernandes.
D’Youville (5-16, 4-10 AMCC) got 15 points from Monica June.
Bad second quarter for JC women
SCRANTON — The Juniata College women’s team was outscored, 22-5, in the second quarter en route to a 62-45 loss at Scranton in Landmark Conference action.
Morgan Instone’s 15 points were tops for the Lady Eagles (18-3, 7-3 LC). Teammate Dani Atkinson added 11 points.
Scranton (20-1, 9-1 LC) got 12 points from Makenzie Mason.
Lee strong in Juniata men’s victory
SCRANTON — The Juniata College men’s team got 23 points from Marcus Lee in a 74-71 win over Scranton in Landmark Conference action.
Seth Brewer added 13 points as Juniata improved to 18-3 overall, 7-3 in the conference. Damon Rickens contributed 11 points in a game the Eagles led, 32-31, at halftime.
Drew Schankweiler’s 18 points were tops for Scranton (10-11, 6-4 LC).
Bouknight has strong night for Lions
The Penn State Altoona men’s team improved to 14-7 overall, thanks to a 96-71 win over D’Youville in an Allgheny Mountain Collegiate Conference game at the Adler Arena.
Penn State, which led, 49-28, at halftime, got 18 points from Rich Bouknight to go with 17 points from Dequan Jackson. Ishimeal Nance added 12 for the Lions (2-12 AMCC) while teammate Austin Krise contributed 10 points.
D’Youville (5-15, 2-12 AMCC) got 14 points from Will Vanauken.
Mount men victorious at home
CRESSON — The Mount Aloysius men’s team picked up their fifth win of the season, thanks to a 57-52 win over Pitt-Bradford in an Allgheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup.
Julian Stover’s 15 points were tops for the Mount (5-16), which also got 12 points each from David Swatsworth and Tommy Pisula. Shaire Tolson-Ford added 10 points in a game the Mounties trailed, 36-28, at halftime.
Dylan Niedermeyer led Pitt-Bradford (3-18) with 16 points.
