Huntingdon sinks Central Cambria in pool

EBENSBURG — The Huntingdon boys and girls swim teams both picked up victories on Thursday with the Lady Bearcats winning, 89-79, while the Bearcat boys earned a 102-65 win in high school action.

It was the first loss of the season for the Red Devil boys (2-1) while the Lady Red Devils fell to 1-2.

On the boys side, Ben Atherton and Matias Berger led a balanced attack with two victories each. Huntingdon won all 11 events.

On the girls side, Haley Goldstone, Sydney Houck and Jaelyn Mitchell each won two events for the Lady Bearcats. Central Cambria won one event, the 400 freestyle relay.

EVERETT — Luke Brambley shot a match best 289 as Everett defeated Berlin Brothersvalley, 1,403-1,136, in high school rifle action.

The entire Warrior team outshot Berlin as the 1,403 points are a varsity team record.

Altoona cruises

Cole Yeckley and Butch Baker each scored two goals, and Cameron Yeckley had three assists as Altoona topped Derry, 9-4, at Galactic Ice in high school hockey.

Cole Yeckley added a pair of assists as did Tyler Umbleby. Altoona improved to 10-0-1, and Evan Montgomery saved 16 of 20 shots.
