Tigers convert more in victory

Freshman Football

TYRONE — In a back-and-forth contest, Hollidaysburg made good on more conversions to slip by Tyrone, 35-32, in freshman football action on Thursday.

Gage Shawley (1 and 9 yard runs) and Bryce Martelacci (24 and 5 yard runs) led the Golden Tigers with two scores apiece, while Deshawn Moss returned a kickoff 70 yards for the other TD.

Damion Gripp reached the end zone in three different ways for the Golden Eagles as he caught a 7 yard pass from Brandon Lucas, returned a kickoff 60 yards and scored on a 34 yard run.

Blane Hoover returned a kickoff 80 yards for Tyrone and Cal Silva crossed the goal line from 12 yards away for the other Tyrone touchdown.

PHILIPSBURG — Cody Beauseigneur scored a rushing touchdown and hauled in a receiving TD from Ryan Whitehead, and Caleb Stamm grabbed a TD pass and returned a punt for a score as Philipsburg-Osceola took care of Huntingdon.

Josh Lesko crossed the goal line from 5 yards out to account for the other Mounties score.

LATROBE — Marcus Day ran for a score, passed for another, and returned an interception 36 yards for a third as Altoona took down Latrobe. Adam Zerbee and Dylan McNelly also had touchdown runs for the Mountain Lions, while Kyle Murray and Edwin Franklin caught a pair of Altoona touchdown passes.

Spring Cove 16

BELLEFONTE — Clayton Wilson scored once on the ground and hauled in an 18-yard pass from Jamel Emel as Bellefonte defeated Spring Cove to improve to 4-2.

Spring Cove, which fell to 3-3, scored the game’s first touchdown on a 5-yard run from Parker Gregg, and again in the third quarter on a 9-yard Devon Boyles pass to Josh Biesinger in the third quarter.
