Ridge volleyball moving on

NEW PARIS — Chestnut Ridge defeated Everett for the third time this season on Thursday to earn a trip to the District 5 Class 2A volleyball championship match.

The set scores were 25-19, 25-21, 25-14. No other details were available.

Ridge will meet top seeded North Star in the finals on Tuesday at a site to be announced.

B-A downs Tyrone

BELLWOOD — Kamryn Mercer had 11 service points, five aces, 13 kills and 10 digs as Bellwood-Antis beat Tyrone in five sets, 25-22, 14-25, 12-25, 25-22, 15-12, in high school girls volleyball.

Sydney Lechner had 28 assists for Bellwood. Brianna Foy had 11 kills and six aces for Tyrone, while Leah Cotcheck had 12 digs and Mattie Cherry 26 assists.

HOLLIDAYSBURG — The Hollidaysburg girls volleyball team defeated Huntingdon, 25-17, 24-26, 25-22, 26-24 behind 20 kills from Claire Sauerland 20 kills.

Riley Ricko had 20 digs, and MacKenzie Reed added 35 assists and 21 service points.

The Northern Cambria girls volleyball team defeated Altoona, 18-25, 25-22, 25-14, 25-20, at the AAHS Fieldhouse despite eight kills and 18 digs from the Lady Spikers’ Kenzie Kirwin.

HOUTZDALE — Elaina McClellan’s hat trick lifted the Moshannon Valley girls soccer team to a 6-1 victory over Philipsburg-Osceola in its regular season finale.

Tristan Timblin had three assists for the Damsels. Jordan Day scored the Lady Mounties’ goal.

HUNTINGDON — Llayton Kling caught a 65-yard touchdown pass from Devon Boyles, and Parker Gregg added a touchdown run as Spring Cove tied Huntingdon, 12-12, in a freshman football game.

Ryan Runk caught two touchdown passes for the Bearcats.
