Montgomery caps off wild comeback

WESTMINSTER, Md. — Quarterback Austin Montgomery’s two-point conversion catch on a trick play was good in overtime as the Juniata College football team beat McDaniel, 42-41, Saturday afternoon.

Montgomery hit Lehr with a 25-yard touchdown pass in the overtime to bring Juniata within one before going for the two-point conversion. This time, Lehr took the snap in the wildcat formation and hit Montgomery for the win.

The Eagles improved to 2-3 while McDaniel fell to 3-2.

Juniata, which led, 20-14 at halftime, got a big day from Montgomery, who completed 18-of-31 passes for 219 yards and three scores. He also threw two interceptions. Lehr also contributed by rushing for 141 yads on 22 carries and a score. Jake Notestine and AJ Brocato each caught a touchdown pass, too.

Joel Reighard totaled 14 tackles for Juniata, which saw the game go to overtime on Spencer Wiersberg’s 46 yard field goal with 11 seconds left in regulation.

Juniata had taken a 34-31 lead with 18 seconds left in regulation on Broncato’s 5-yard touchdown pass from Montgomery.

Bullock leads IUP

GREENSBURG — Samir Bullock rushed for 264 yards on 31 carries with six touchdowns as the IUP football team crushed Seton Hill, 57-14, Saturday afternoon in an Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference matchup.

In a game in which IUP (5-0, 2-0 PSAC) led by only two, 9-7, after one quarter, Bullock scored on touchdown runs of 8, 1, 5, 15, 20 and 17 yards. Teammate Justice Evans, who rushed for 114 yards on 13 carries, also scored on a 500-yard touchdown run.

IUP will host California, Pa. this Saturday at 2 p.m. for homecoming. Seton Hill dropped to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the PSAC.
