Lady Spikers drop first set, rebound to top Tigers

The Altoona girls volleyball team improved to 6-4 Tuesday night, thanks to a 23-25, 25-22, 25-15, 25-15 win over Hollidaysburg in high school action at the Fieldhouse.

The Lady Lions got 49 digs and 17 service points from Kaila Clawson to go with 18 assists and 14 service points from Emily Albright. Kenzie Kirwin added 12 kills and 10 service points to go with 26 assists from Maddie Benton, along with 11 kills from Bridgid Fox and 15 kills from Ireland McClelland.

Hollidaysburg (5-4) got 11 service points and 10 digs from Eden Taddie to go with 20 kills from Claire Sauerland, 11 digs from MacKenzie Reed along with 22 digs and 10 kills from Rylee Rito.

Kayla Repko contributed 24 assists and 24 digs while Mara Yahner had five blocks.

Lady Devils win

Central Cambria improved to 11-2 on the season, defeating Bishop Guilfoyle 23-25 28-26 25-23 25-14. Liz Bopp had 14 kills for the Lady Devils, Abbie Young had 39 digs and Leah Bracken had 43 assists.

Guilfoyle’s Emily Brown finished with 19 digs, Gabby Krug had 38 assists, Kylee Gooding had 13 kills and 14 digs, Beth Yahner had 10 kills and 11 digs, and Teresa Haigh had 10 kills.

Charlotte Farabaugh had 13 service points, 17 digs and 12 kills, and Taylor Eckenrode had 20 service points.

Kylie Guzic had 17 service points and 20 digs for Penn Cambria, and Makalyn Clapper registered 33 kills.

The Lady Blue Devils got 11 service points, four aces and 10 assists from Sydney Lechner, while teammate Karlie Feathers added 10 service points and Sakeria Haralson added six blocks.

Williamsburg got six service points and three aces from Makayla Kipe to go with nine digs from Olivia England.

Halee Smith added 11 service points, nine kills and six blocks, and Hayden Taylor recorded 17 assists.

Emma Kitko had nine service points for the Damsels.
