Krug reaches milestone in Guilfoyle’s victory

Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic junior setter Gabby Krug surpassed the 2,000-assist milestone in a 25-15, 25-18, 25-18 sweep of Bedford at the Pleasant Valley Gymnasium Monday in high school girls volleyball.

Krug recorded 32 assists to go along with 10 service points for BG (8-4).

“This is a great accomplishment for Gabby to reach 2,000 assists in her career,” BG coach Bob Kasun said. “It’s a quite a milestone for a setter.”

BG’s Kylee Gooding added 11 kills, Beth Yahner had 10 points and 10 digs, and Emily Brown chipped in 10 digs.

Bedford dropped to 2-10.

BC edges McCort

EBENSBURG — Bishop Carroll improved its record to 13-2 with a 25-15, 25-16, 18-25, 15-25, 15-6 victory over Bishop McCort.

Kayla Repko collected 11 service points, 29 digs and 44 assists, including her 1,000th of her career. Maddie Murphy had nine service points and six blocks, Kate Yahner had 15 kills, and Caroline Ratchford delivered 14 kills.

Erika Seitz had 17 digs for McCort, and Clara Wilson had eight kills and six blocks.

CRESSON — Penn Cambria edged Richland, 25-15, 26-28, 25-21, 24-26, 15-13.

Makalyn Clapper delivered 14 kills and six blocks for the Lady Panthers, Mia McCarthy had 12 kills and 16 digs, Kylie Guzic had 17 service points and 12 digs, Macy Sral had 15 service points, and Laken Guzic added 27 assists.

Records: Richland (4-8); Penn Cambria (6-7).

Somerset spikes CC

EBENSBURG — Led by Abbey Smith’s nine kills, Allie Lane’s 29 assists and Emily Reeping’s six blocks, Somerset defeated Central Cambria, 25-17, 25-22, 25-13, in a Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference matchup.

Somerset improved to 11-1 overall. Central Cambria (10-2 overall) got six service points and four blocks from Liz Bopp, eight kills from Jenna Bauer, 16 assists from Leah Bracken and 14 digs from Abby Young.

ALEXANDRIA — Juniata Valley defeated Tussey Mountain, 25-20, 25-18, 25-19, to improve to 10-3.

Jayda Hoffmaster led the winners with 11 service points, while teammate Emma Musser added 12 kills. Halee Smith chipped in with 11 kills.

Katianne Rydbom had eight service points and five aces, Raylene Simmers had seven service points and nine kills, Cassidy Hamilton and Kristen Hewitt both had seven service points and nine digs, and Hannah Dudurich added 11 assists for Glendale.
