JV girls stay unbeaten

ALEXANDRIA — The Juniata Valley girls cross country team improved to 12-0 overall Thursday afternoon, thanks to a 21-40 win over Tyrone in high school action.

Lexi Reed won the race for JV in 23:04. Tyrone’s top runner was Chesney Saltsgiver, who took second in 23:09.

The Tyrone boys won 17-46 behind the Kohler brothers. Both Zach and Joe finished the race tied for first in 17:26.

ROARING SPRING — Spring Cove handed Philipsburg-Osceola its first loss of the season Thursday with a 20-12 win in freshman football action.

Lleyton Kling scored on a one-yard run in the fourth quarter, and tossed a 20-yard touchdown pass to Josh Biesinger to complete the comeback. Kling and Biesinger also hooked up for 31 yards in the first quarter.

The Mounties (6-1) got touchdown receptions for Kaleb Stamm and Aaron Depto.
