CC’s Kiepert finds himself in top 20

YORK — Central Cambria High School senior Alex Kiepert shot an 82 and is in a tie for 18th place after the first day of the PIAA Class 2A Boys Golf Championships on Monday at Heritage Hills Golf Resort.

Kiepert, who won the PIAA West Regional last Monday, is tied with six other golfers, 14 strokes behind leader Chase Miller of Tulpehocken. Miller shot a 68 and is four ahead of Notre Dame’s William Mirams.

The top 10 golfers will receive medals after today’s second round. Currently, Kiepert is five strokes behind the 10th-place golfer.

Tyrone Area junior Andrew Ferguson shot an 89 and is 35th among the 36 golfers. Bishop McCort senior Luke Tercek is tied for third place after shooting a 74.
