Altoona girls capture Grove City invite

H.S. cross country

GROVE CITY — The Altoona Area High School girls cross country team won the nine-team Grove City Invitational on Saturday.

Altoona, with Amanda Chamberlain, Riley Boutiller and Ashley Futrell finishing seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively, among the participating team runners, won the title by two points over Chartiers Valley.

Overall, Chamberlain was ninth, Boutiller 10th and Futrell 13th.

Others placing high for Altoona were Kayla Rosas (19th) and Alyson Schobel (22nd).

Knoch’s Samantha Barnes won the individual race in 19 minutes, 49 seconds.

Julianna Kratzer won the junior varsity race to lead Altoona to the JV team title.

CC boys place 10th

GETTYSBURG — The Central Cambria boys finished 10th in the 32-team Gettysburg High School Cross Country Invitational.

Cumberland Valley won the boys title with 139 points. Central Cambria had 273, and Hollidaysburg was 29th with 894.

John Delaney of John Handley won the boys individual title with a time of 16 minutes, 7.40 seconds. Central Cambria’s Ohm Vyas was 25th in 17:09, Nate Kuntz was 28th in 17:14.10, and Tyler Wilson was 50th in 17:39.00

The Central Cambria girls finished 12th among 24 teams.

Hershey won the girls title with a score of 66. Central Cambria finished with 320.

Individually, Central Cambria freshman Ella Vrabel finished 27th in 20:16.40. Kacy McKeel was 44th in 20:40.60, and Anna Dill was 49th in 20:53.40.

Abby Yourkavitch of Chambersburg won the girls meet in 18:26.90.
