Guilfoyle claims its first victory

H.S. volleyball

Gabby Krug recorded 31 assists and 21 service points to lead Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic past Richland in four sets at the Pleasant Valley Gymnasium Tuesday in high school girls volleyball.

BG won 25-11, 21-25, 25-19, 25-20 for its first win of the season (1-2).

Kylee Gooding add 18 kills, Beth Yahner added 10, and Pam Lund and Alicia Nicolini added 10 points apiece. Emily Brown recorded 17 digs.

Somerset tops BC

SOMERSET — Bishop Caroll dropped to 3-1 overall with a 21-25, 22-25, 25-16, 25-21, 15-12 loss at Somerset.

The Lady Huskies got 51 asssists from Kayla Repko, 24 assists from Allie Lane and 11 service points from Carly Clark. Kate Yahner contributed 10 service points and 18 kills.

Central triumphs

MARTINSBURG — Central downed Huntingdon, 25-6, 25-22, 22-25, 25-20, behind Katie Harker’s 12 service points, nine kills and 18 digs.

Bethany Wyant had 10 service points, seven kills and 11 digs, Jocie Miller collected nine service points and six kills, Lainie Huston had 36 digs, and Erin Brumbaugh added 27 assists.

Tyrone defeated

SPRING MILLS — Tyrone won the second set but couldn’t finish off host Penns Valley, falling 25-18, 23-25, 25-20, 25-19.

Brianna Foy sparked Tyrone with 10 kills, 10 digs, nine service points and six aces, Ebonee Rice contributed 16 digs and 11 service points, and Mattie Cherry dished out 15 assists.

FLINTON — Four Lady Bulldogs had at least 20 service points, and Emily Claar collected 19 service points, 12 kills and five blocks in Claysburg-Kimmel’s 25-21, 25-15, 23-25, 25-21, 15-12 Inter-County Conference win at Glendale.

Coryne Weyandt topped the Lady Bulldogs with 23 service points and 17 assists, Mackenzie Clemons turned in 20 service points and 15 digs, Justinna Brown added 12 kills, and Megan Hartman accounted for 21 service points.

Hannah Dudurich finished with 16 service points, Olivia Reese chalked up nine kills, Katianne Rydbom collected 11 assists and eight digs, and Jamie Wolfe also made eight digs for Glendale.

Lady Devils fall

MORRISDALE — Sakeria Haralson recorded eight blocks, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Alaina Speigle’s 21-service point, seven-ace six-kill performance as West Branch topped Bellwood-Antis, 25-12, 25-9, 25-18.

Sydney Lechner had 11 assista and four digs for Bellwood, which also got five service points and four kills from Cameron Mercer. Brittany English had 18 assists, Liz Moore and Skylar Seprish had five digs apiece, and Taylor Kalke added three blocks for West Branch.

PORTAGE — Portage almost was down two sets to none but came back for a 4-25, 26-24, 25-22, 25-14 WestPAC victory over visiting Conemaugh Township, getting 10 service points, 10 digs and eight kills from Bella Strosnider.

Kylee McCarty piled up 26 service points, including 11 aces, for the Lady Mustangs. Izzy Crum had 19 service points.
