HOLLIDAYSBURG — The team of Todd Homan, Terry Burd, Dick Klaber and Terry Kosanovich took first place in the Grocers Fight Cancer Golf Outing at Scotch Valley Country Club.

Brian Hall, Dave Hall, Brian Irwin and Steve Genter took second.

In the Blue Knob Ski Patrol outing, the first-place team was comprised of Nolan Link, Rose Storm, Allan Simanski and John Dziabo.

Second-place team members were Steve Miksich, Cassidy Miksich, Mike Starr and Damian Williams.


CRESSON — Sandy Smith (with 56 points) and Jim Smith (with 53) are the final individual point leaders in the Couples League Night standings.

Sinking Valley

TYRONE — Greg Ferguson and Leonard DelBaggio were the overall gross champions with a score of 117 in the Sinking Valley 2-man Best Ball Tournament Sept. 1-2.

Ferguson and DelBaggio were also the flight winners for ages 50-59.

The flight winners for ages 60-and-over, with a first-place gross score of 136, were Dave States and Mitch Johns.

Philipsburg Elks Lodge

PHILIPSBURG — Ryan and Ky Bender led the Parent-Child Division with a score of 69, while Danielle and Jake Vaux took second with a score of 71.

In the Twi-Lite League, the team of MVEDP (Moshannon Valley Economic Development Partnership) won the men’s league championship by defeating Geo Tech Engineering, 5-3 in the championship finals. Jeff Herr captained the team to its fifth title in six years.

Al Herr, Keith Hahn, Todd Reifer, Ryan Dobo, Tim Ronan, Kelly Reifer, Hayden Hayward, Sam Demko, Mike Helaey, Denny Shealer, Travis Arnold and Stan LaFuria were also on the winning team.

In the consolation bracket, Senergy Marketing Group defeated J.J. Powell, 5¢-2¢.

Holes in one

n Ryan Scaife aced the 130-yard fourth hole at the Philipsburg Elks Lodge Country Club with a gap wedge for his first career ace. Witnesses were Jim Hopper, Bob Smith and Ted Patterson.

n Maureen Calandra aced the par-3, eighth hole at the Summit Country Club during the Couples Night League. She used a 5-wood to make the 135-yard shot, which was witnessed by Paul Calandra, Bo Pearson and Michelle Day.
