Why I picked Cal, Pa.: “I felt like I fit in at the school and with the team, plus the opportunity to play for a top-notch volleyball program.”

Greatest high school achievement: “I was awarded offensive MVP for volleyball my junior and senior year, and received the Laurel Highlands Conference award my senior year. I also received the MVP award for track and field my sophomore and junior years and had the opportunity to compete at states in track and field high jump.”

(Horseshoe Volleyball Club) Coach Kraft’s quote: “Maddie continues to develop into a solid volleyball player, but she has always demonstrated a high quality of character and commitment to improving on and off the court. I am honored to have been part of her development in these last three years, and I know that she will strive for the best in her collegiate career. Maddie will serve as a role model for younger players in the central Pennsylvania area for years to come.”

How I got my start playing volleyball: “My mom and dad thought I had the build for volleyball and encouraged me to try it. I never played before, so I decided to play junior high volleyball the spring of my freshman year. My high school coach, Lindsay (Malloy) Chirdon, encouraged me to try out for the Horseshoe Volleyball Club and I was selected for the 16-1 travel team. I am currently in my final season of club volleyball and enjoying every second of it.”

Favorite college growing up: Penn State

Other interests: Basketball, track and field

What getting to play in college means to me: “A lot of people around here don’t get an opportunity like this to play the sport they love at the next level, especially Division II. I’m truly blessed to get this opportunity.”
