Foursome comes away with tournament win at Sylvan

HOLLIDAYSBURG — The team of Mary Jane Terza, Carol Young, Rosey McCoy and Linda Smith won the Ball in a Bag Tournament recently at the Sylvan Hills Golf Club.

The longest drive of the day went to Nancy Moore while Young won closest-to-the-pin honors.

Winners from the Thursday Night League included Curt Melton, who was the low gross and net winner on the night. Harry Felty (closest-to-the-pin on No. 2) and Joe Vecko (closest-to-the-pin on No. 4) won individual honors, too.

Huntingdon CC

HUNTINGDON — After three weeks of the Big Orange Golf League at the Huntingdon Country Club, the team of Gerry Huggler and Bill Frazier are in first with a 3-0 mark.

Fred Lear and Rick Bayer are in second at 2-1, followed by Larry Newton-Jim Lakso (1-2) and Ed Gargula and Bob Lamey (0-3).

The low gross winner was Huggler (39) while the low net score was shared by Lear and Gargula (34).

The shot of the day was turned in by Bill Kupchella, who chipped in for birdie on No. 5 from 20 yards out.

Sinking Valley

TYRONE — The team of Mark Bates, T.J. Evangelisto, Andy Kushner and Tim Wiedemer won the Sinking Valley Senior Event with a score of 124. The second-place team, with a score of 125, included Dave Mackey, Ralph Hamilton, John Bernhart, and Matt McKee.

Closest to the pin honors included: Tim Wiedemer (second hole); Andy Kushner (eighth hole); Mike Starr (tenth hole); T.J. Evangelisto (16th hole).

Scotch Valley

HOLLIDAYSBURG — The team of Jason Bihary, Mike O’Connor, Mike Fitch and Gaige Orndorf won the gross division at the Scotch Valley Opening Day Tournament.

The first-place net team was Dan McGrath, Mike Garrity and Frank Pallott Jr. and Paul Propcheck.

The Juniata College Athletic Department Outing was also held with the team of Ed Anderson, Matt Young, Lance Thompson and Luke Thompson winning the event.

Second place went to the team of Gary Raymond, Alex Raymond, Brent Krug and Russell Krug. Third-place honors were won by the team of Logan Williams, Cory Over, Jeff Dennis and Chris Bonchosky.
