Six Lady Vikings homer in win over Mo Valley

FLINTON — Six different Lady Vikings belted over-the-fence home runs as Glendale slugged its way over visiting Moshannon Valley, 14-2, in a high school softball game on Thursday afternoon that counted in both the Moshannon Valley League and the North Division of the Inter-County Conference.

Glendale got homers from Makenzie Lukehart, Lexi Mulhollen, Alaney Vereshack, Cierra O’Shell and Breanna Vereshack in its five-inning win. The Lady Vikings (7-1) also got three RBIs each out of Alaney and Breanna Vereshack. Sydney Gallaher doubled, which made her the all-time doubles leader in Glendale softball history.

Moshannon Valley got a home run and two hits and two RBIs from McKenzie McCoy.

CLEARFIELD — Asten Bishop’s home run in the first inning gave Clearfield life early, until the Central Lady Dragons rattled off 16 runs in three innings to beat the Lady Bison by the mercy rule in five in Mountain League action.

Cassie Mock led Central with four RBIs on two hits, including a double. Also with multiple RBIs for Central were Ashley Negley with three, Cam Feathers and Jenna Ritchey with two.

Maddie Metzler and Olivia Smith each had three hits for the Lady Dragons, who raised their record to 9-1. Kate Thompson got the pitching win.
