Lady Tigers remember late star; B-A wins again

CLAYSBURG — A three-run first inning was enough for the Claysburg-Kimmel softball team to hand Glendale its first loss of the season, 3-2, in an early season Inter-County Conference North Division showdown on Tuesday.

The Lady Bulldogs got a two-run single from Raelynne Grabill in the first. Justinna Brown drove in the other run. Winning pitcher Courtney Garver scattered five hits, struck out three and walked one, and Keyara Morgan had two hits

The Lady Vikings (5-1) got two hits from Makenzie Lukehart and solo RBI efforts from Lexi Mulhollen and Alaney Vereshack.

HOLLIDAYSBURG — Kylie Kane had a pair of singles, Hailey Shaffer and Katelyn Cappella doubled, and Hollidaysburg lost to Mount Union in its first game since the passing of star player Mikayla Focht.

The Lady Tigers scored all five of their runs during the bottom of the sixth inning.

“The girls played with their hearts today,” Hollidaysburg coach Heather Perry said. “I was so proud of them for stepping onto that field to honor the memory of Mikayla.”
