Golden Eagles take care of Williamsburg

TYRONE — The top third of Tyrone’s lineup — Andrew Pearson, Brian Gunter and Kevin Lehner — had three hits apiece and accounted for seven runs and five RBIs to power the Golden Eagles over Williamsburg, 13-5, in a non-league high school baseball contest on Monday.

Tyrone scored six times in the third inning and tacked on five in the sixth. Cory Houck went 2-for-3 with three runs for Williamsburg, which also received two hits and two RBIs from Rashadd Knorr.

CLEARFIELD — After tying the game with a run in the bottom of the seventh inning, Clearfield pushed across the winning run on a Central error in the bottom of the eighth to secure a Mountain League victory.

Clearfield improved to 4-2 overall and 4-1 in the Mountain League.

Central (5-2 overall and in the Mountain League) got two hits and an RBI from both Alex Hoenstine and Hunter Liebal.

ALEXANDRIA — Junior right-hander Jack Johnson pitched a two-hit shutout, striking out eight and walking none, to lead unbeaten Juniata Valley to a victory over Saint Joseph’s.

Bryce Hensor’s sacrifice fly in the first inning scored Seth Derugen from third base with the only run for Valley, which improved to 7-0.

Cody Lohr tallied two hits and three RBIs, Brodie Harbaugh smacked four hits and pushed across two runs, and Mason McVicker totaled three RBIs for the Lions.

Ryan Leonard and Matt Leonard recorded two hits each for the Titans.

LOYSBURG — Jake Cherry pitched a six-hit shutout, and Carter Replogle drove home the only run with a first-inning single as Northern Bedford defeated Fannett-Metal in a game which counted in both the Sideling Hill League and Inter-County Conference South standings.

Replogle’s single scored Garett Clouse from third base with the only run that Cherry — who struck out six batters and walked four — needed to record the win, which improved Northern’s overall record to 2-5.
