Red Flash men lose No. 5

BETHLEHEM  — The Saint Francis men’s basketball team fell 100-67 at Lehigh on Monday night in Stabler Arena, dropping the Red Flash’s record to 3-5 on the season.

Lehigh (5-5) got hot in the second half, shooting 62 percent from the floor and out-scoring SFU 55-31. Lehigh is the first team to score 100 points on Saint Francis since North Carolina had 103 on January 2, 2011.

Sophomore guard Isaiah Blackmon led the Red Flash with 13 points on the night, hitting four-of-eight shots, and added six rebounds, two assists and two steals.  Sophomore forward Josh Nebo contributed 10 points, six rebounds and two blocks.

With his two blocks, Nebo now has 72 for his career, moving him into sixth place all-time at Saint Francis, passing Jason Osborne (2001-05). He is now just two blocks away from tying Reggie Lewis (1989-94) for fifth all-time at SFU.

Sophomore guard Jamaal King and freshman guard Randall Gaskins Jr. each contributed nine points, with King adding five rebounds and three assists, while Gaskins had two steals.

Saint Francis shot 36 percent from the floor, hitting 24-of-67 shots, and 23 percent from three (5-of-22).

Lehigh shot 56 percent for the game (38-of-68), including a blistering 62 percent in the second half (21-of-34). The Mountain Hawks hit 15-of-31 threes (48 percent), including 10 in the second half.

Freshman Pat Andree led Lehigh with 30 points, hitting 10-of-12 threes, along with eight rebounds. Senior center Tim Kempton posted a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds and senior guard Austin Price also contributed 21 points. Sophomore Kyle Leufroy added 13 points.

The Red Flash trailed 45-36 at halftime.  Blackmon, Gaskins Jr. and Nebo each had seven points in the half. Blackmon added four rebounds and two steals, while Gaskins also had two steals and Nebo had three boards and a block.  Sophomore Scott Meredith had six points on a pair of threes.

The Flash host Stony Brook Saturday at 1 p.m.
