2016 Mirror girls soccer all-stars
FIRST TEAM
Autumn Adams, sr., Moshannon Valley: Midfielder … Three-time Mirror first-team all-star and honorable mention as a freshman … Team MVP who scored 20 goals and assisted on two others … Scored the game-winning goal in overtime in a 2-1 win over Everett … The Damsels went 9-8 … Had 39 goals as a sophomore and 16 as a junior.
Eva Aveni, sr., Altoona: Defender … Mirror honorable mention as a junior … Led the Lady Lions’ defense and assisted on two goals … Altoona went 8-9-2 and played in the District 6 Class 4A championship game.
Amelia Beland, sr., Bedford: Forward … Mirror honorable mention as a junior … Collected 20 goals and 16 assists for the Lady Bisons, who went unbeaten in the regular season and won the District 6 Class 2A championship … “She provided leadership to the team by her all-out effort in everything she does. Her ‘lead-by-example’ approach started in the offseason and has carried through this year,” according to coach Jeff Thomas.
Emmy Harvey, soph., Penn Cambria: Striker … Mirror honorable mention as a freshman … Led the Lady Panthers with 39 goals and also had seven assists … The Lady Panthers went 11-9 this season.
Paris Haugh, sr., Altoona: Striker … Two-time Mirror first-team all-star … Recorded 11 goals and five assists for the Lady Lions … Altoona went 8-9-2 and played in the District 6 Class 4A championship game … Had 13 goals and seven assists as a junior.
McKenna Hurd, jr., Hollidaysburg: Midfielder … Mirror first-team all-star as a freshman and honorable mention as a sophomore … Recorded seven goals and 10 assists for the District 6 Class 3A champion Lady Tigers, who went 11-6-2.
Kaitlyn Laird, fr., Central: Forward … Led the Lady Dragons with 30 goals, with four of them being game-winners …. Also had 14 assists … Led the Mountain League in goals and points … Central went 18-2.
Emily Martz, jr., Bedford: Center defense … Two-time Mirror first-team all-star … Led Lady Bisons defense that allowed just 13 goals in 22 games and recorded 17 shutouts … Also had three goals and four assists for the 21-1 District 6 Class 2A champion Lady Bisons … “Can clear the ball over half the field and can even score over half the field. Will run a player down and not quit until she has it out of her territory,” according to coach Jeff Thomas.
Sadie McConnell, jr., Northern Bedford: Striker … Two-time Mirror first-team all-star … Team captain who led Lady Panthers in goals with 40 … Helped Northern Bedford go 13-9 and claim the ICC North and Sideling Hill League titles … Had 33 goals as a sophomore.
Kierra Miller, sr., Bishop Guilfoyle: Center back … Mirror first-team all-star as a freshman and sophomore … Had 71 steals and two goals for the District 6 Class 1A champion Lady Marauders, who went 15-4-1 … Will continue her soccer career at the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown.
Delaney Myrick, sr., Bishop Guilfoyle: Forward … Four-time Mirror first-team all-star … Led the District 6 Class 1A champion Lady Marauders with 43 goals and also had 14 assists … Finished her career with 149 goals and 53 assists.
Ashley Negley, soph., Central: Midfielder … Two-time Mirror first-team all-star … Scored 23 goals, including three game-winners, and registered seven assists for the Lady Dragons, who lost just one game in the regular season … Finished fourth in the Mountain League for goals and points … Has 48 goals and 16 assists in two seasons.
Sydney Routch, jr., Hollidaysburg: Forward … Mirror first-teamer as a freshman and honorable mention as a sophomore … Led the District 6 Class 3A champion Lady Tigers with 31 goals and also had 10 assists … Scored seven goals in two games in the Altoona tournament … Hollidaysburg went 11-6-2.
Mandy Sky, jr., Hollidaysburg: Midfielder … Recorded 11 assists and scored 10 goals for the Lady Tigers, who won the District 6 Class 3A championship and recorded an 11-6-2 record.
Olivia Smith, jr., Central: Forward … Three-time Mirror first-team all-star … Led the Lady Dragons with 18 assists and also scored 25 goals with seven of them being game-winners … Tops in the Mountain League for assists and second in points … Has 85 goals and 37 assists in three seasons.
Amber Thomas, soph., Bedford: Center midfielder … Led the District 6 Class 2A champion Lady Bisons with 30 goals and also assisted on 35 others … Missed most of her freshman season with a major injury … “A very consistent player and very much a team player. She has great field vision and a competitive spirit. Her fitness level and soccer IQ are tough to match at this level,” according to coach Jeff Thomas.
Megan Vigne, sr., Altoona: Midfielder … Mirror honorable mention as a junior … Collected six goals and one assist for the Lady Lions … Altoona went 8-9-2 and played in the District 6 Class 4A championship game.
Devyn Yingling, sr., Bishop Guilfoyle: Keeper … Mirror honorable mention as a junior … Led Lady Marauders to a 15-4-1 record and a third-straight District 6 Class 1A championship by making 75 saves … Had a 1.33 goals-against average.
