HOLLIDAYSBURG –Austin Burket and Lucas Scordo each netted a first-half goal for Hollidaysburg in its 2-0 win over Philipsburg-Osceola in high school boys soccer on Thursday.
Golden Tiger keeper Jaret Sweeney earned the shutout, as Hollidaysburg improved to 10-6.

Lions finish ninth
CALIFORNIA, Pa. — The Altoona Area High School boys and girls cross country teams competed at the Tri-State Championships with 19 other high schools, and the boys finished ninth.
North Allegheny took the boys title. Butler’s Noah Beverage won the individual competition in 16:34. Greg Williams was Altoona’s highest boys finisher at 36th in 18:05.
Altoona took 13th in the girls competition, also won by North Allegheny. NA’s Clara Savchik was the individual champion in 18:57, and Amanda Chamberlain was Altoona’s top finisher at 21st in 22:49.
