VanKirk first as Blue Devils top Williamsburg

BELLWOOD – Robert VanKirk finished 7 seconds ahead of Williamsburg’s Trevor Butler with a time of 19:43, and his teammates, Brayton Coover and Jake Miller, were third and fourth, respectively, to power homestand Bellwood-Antis to a 23-32 victory in high school boys cross country on Tuesday.

The Lady Blue Devils also prevailed, 15-50. B-A’s Jenna Barlett placed first, more than 1 minute ahead of anyone else. Stephanie Mills of Bellwood was second.

Husick prevails

MARTINSBURG – Although Tussey Mountain didn’t have a full team competing, the Titans’ Trenton Husick was the boys medalist running as an individual at a meet that included Central, Philipsburg-Osceola and Clearfield.

Husick posted a time of 18:11, 20 seconds ahead of Clearfield’s Alex Coval. P-O’s Matthew Shimmel was fourth. The Mounties edged Central, 25-32, while Clearfield defeated the Dragons, 16-47.

Philipsburg-Osceola was a 15-42 winner over Central on the girls side, led by Kristen Bennett’s fifth-place showing. Clearfield notched a 15-50 victory over the Central girls, as Paige Mikesell of Clearfield was the medalist.

Kohler wins race

BELLEFONTE -Zach Kohler took first place in 18:56, but the Tyrone boys fell to Bellefonte, 24-37.

Joe Kohler took third place for Tyrone in 19:32, while Bellefonte’s Brett Pope finished second at 19:06.

Tyrone’s Sean Dawson and Rebekah Schleppy ran for the girls, but neither team scored due to lack of runners.
