Dziabo wins by 1 for stroke play title
CRESSON – Quintin Dziabo carded a 147, winning the Summit Country Club’s Stroke Play Club Championship by one over David DeGol Jr. (148) in the championship flight last weekend. Brent Krug and Doug Simanski tied for third at 151.
Rick Slebodnik won the first flight with a 149, while Warren Rhyner (155) finished second. Tom Angle and Doug Fogel tied for third at 161. Butch DeCriscio won the second flight with a 157, while Steve Dupirack (159) was second, and Terry Funcheon (163) was third.
Ed Ivory won the third flight with a 169, while John Joseph (173) was second. Bob Ruggiero took the fourth flight with a 173, while Denny Storm (186) was second. Steve Perove captured the fifth flight with a 190, while Stan Wojcik (196) took second.
Anita Jo Petrusky took the women’s division with a 171, while Madison Krug (176) finished second.
In the Senior Club Championship last weekend, Doug Simanski took the gross division of the 50-56 age group, while Fogel (161) finished second. DeCriscio won the net division with a 137, while Dale Perino (144) placed second.
Mitch Johns won the gross division of the 57-64 age group with a 155. Rick Holtz (158) finished second, while Dave States (158) was third. Ruggiero won the net division with a 135, while Storm (140) was second, and Roger Crist (141) was third. Charlie Horten won the gross division in the 65 and over group with a 166, while Ed Maruca won the net division with a 134.
HOLLIDAYSBURG – Dennis DeGol and Bill Crowley won the net in the Scotch Valley Member-Guest Tournament. There was a tie for second between Trent Moore and Brad Anderson and Dennis Walter and Josh Taylor.
Wally Clapper and Wes Elder won the gross, while there was a tie for second between Chris Nelson and Ed Smith and Cubby Davis and Jeff Corey.
Frank Swalga, John Krupa, Seth Smith and Mark Emeigh took first place in the American Rescue Workers Golf Outing. Andrew Tully, Jeff Wos, Steve Heinrich and Steve Jano finished second.
Jack Wagner, Paul Lord, Jeff Klym and John O’Connor took first in the Sheetz Family Charities Golf Outing. Chris DelGrande, Jeff Dodson, Chris Bubalo and Brian Kotrick finished second, while Brian Maderns, Matt Petnach, Chris Olsen and Glenn Brutout took third.
TYRONE – Greg Ferguson was the overall gross champion with a 68, and Bob Kelly was the overall net champion with a 63 in Sinking Valley’s Senior Club Championship on Sunday.
Steve Monahan carded a 74 to take the gross of the 50-59 age group, while Steve Osborne (74) was second, and Don Filby (77) was third. Jess Davis took the net with a 67, while Jeff Coltabaugh (68) was second, and Mark Long (69) was third.
Mike Maier won the gross of the 60-69 group with a 69, while Steve Jackson (72), Chris Futrick (73) and Jeff Chestney (75) followed in second through fourth. John Graham won the net with a 64, while Ralph Hamilton (67), Jim Ray (69) and Ron Shaffer (70) took second through fourth.
Joe Saffin won the gross in the 70-and-over group with a 77, while Mike Robuck (77) took second. Bob Forshey won the net with a 67, while Jim Chestney (67) placed second.
PHILIPSBURG – Denny and Brent Shealer won the net division of the Philipsburg Elks Lodge Country Club’s Member Guest Tournament with a 119 last weekend.
Kelly and Eric Reifer (123) took second, while Keith Hahn and Dan Wachter (124) took third, and Lynn Herman and Eric Whitman (125) placed fourth.
Matt Johnson and Scott Olson won the gross division with a 136, while Arch and Jason Myers (137) were one stroke back. G.A. and Mike Helsel (140) finished third, while Todd and Jake Reifer (144) finished fourth.
Aaron Reifer and Mike Kitko won the Saturday net mini with a 58. Denny and Brent Shealer (59) finished second, while Ryan Bender and Doug Sankey (60) placed third. Lee Martell and Tim Davis tied the Shealers for first in the Sunday net mini at 60. Doug Detwiler and Craig Duck tied Hahn and Wachter for third at 61.
HOLLIDAYSBURG – Ron Bowser had the low gross of 37 and the low net of 31 in the Thursday League at the Sylvan Hills Country Club.
Gary Long was closest to the pin on No. 2, and Craig Beck was the closest on No. 4. Bruce Baldwin and Dave Biseli are the league leaders with 77 points.
Dave Johns, Rita Brouse, Connie Angeski and Sue Welsh took first place in the Sylvan Hills Ladies Golf Association’s Jack & Jill on Tuesday. Lynn Perry, Linda Derman, Carol Young and Linda Smith finished second, while Don Stubbs, George Terza, Sandy Murphy and Kathleen Brinkmiller took third.
HUNTINGDON – Ed Gargula had the low gross of 39, while Bill Kupchella had the low net of 34 in the Big Orange Golf League at the Huntingdon Country Club.
Rick Bayer’s second shot on the 17th hole from the fairway to the green for a birdie was the shot of the day.
