Maroon team drops to 1-2

WILLIAMSPORT – Altoona Maroon fell to 1-2 at the Mid-Atlantic Region 7 Junior Babe Ruth 14-year-old Tournament Friday afternoon, thanks to a 7-4 loss to Rotterdam, N.Y. at Logue Field.

Altoona is now in a must-win situation. It has to beat Piedmont, Del., on Sunday at 4 p.m. and then it must rely on other teams to lose if it wants to make the quarterfinals on Monday.

Rotterdam (3-0) led 6-1 after four innings. Altoona got solo RBI efforts from Ryan Shope, Jake Huber and Andrew Moyer. Teammate Cole Gibson had two of the team’s five hits.
