Farrell, McKnight win Park Hills crowns

Tony Farrell carded a 72 to win the Park Hills Senior Club Championship, while Don McKnight won the Senior Club net championship with a 57.

Farrell had the lowest gross in the championship flight, while Bill Allen (73) was second. Don Brown took the low net with a 64, while Lynn Grove (68) was second. Basil Mannino took the low gross in the first flight with an 82, while Dale Wills (85) was second. Steve Sheetz had the low net of 64, while Bob Mucklow (67) was second.

McKnight had the low gross of 88 in the second flight, while Ron D’Andrea (89) was second. Paul Smith had the low net of 64, while Dave Francis (66) was second.

Sen Thach, Ron Hutchison, Gregg Boland and Rick Drabic carded a 47 to take first in the senior event on Wednesday. D’Andrea, Hank Codd, John Bottenfield and Mannino (48) was second. Sue White took first place in Tuesday’s evening ladies event with a 30, while Bonnie Kaup (34) was second.

Scotch Valley

HOLLIDAYSBURG – Dennis DeGol, Nikki Buchanan, Nick DeGol and Brittany Umstead carded a 26 to take first place in the Palmer Division of the Scotch Valley Couples Tournament. Brian Hall, Jenn Hall, Joel Myers and Sarah Myers (28) placed second.

Dave Stiffler, Jane Stiffler, Larry Claton and Karen Claton won a card-off against Max Benzel, Maddie Fitch, Jared Barber and Reagan Fitch to take the Trevino Division after both teams carded a 33.

Jeffrey Wos, Andrew Tully, Steve Jano and Steve Heinrich scored a 59 to win the American Rescue Workers Golf Outing. Seth Smith, Frank Swalga and Rob Emeigh won a card-off against Randy Diveny, Steve Augustine, Bill Sauserman and Doug Knisley for second after both teams scored 60.

Ethan Katcher was the 12 and over group champion, while Trent Fitch was the 11 and under group champ.

North East Juniors

HOLLIDAYSBURG – Three local golfers won their divisions when the the North East Junior Golf Tour stopped at Scotch Valley Tuesday.

Saxton’s Pat Black scored an 80 to win the boys 13-15 division, while Bedford’s Kourtney Mortimer carded an 89 to win the girls division, and Hollidaysburg’s Quinn Garrity’s 94 took the boys 10-12 division.

Five Hollidaysburg golfers finished in the top 11 in the boys 16-18 division, including second-place Jerome Landry (75) and third-place David Snyder (77). Also placing were Jesse Ottaway (fifth, 83), David Schraff (tied for sixth, 84) and Grant Delozier (eighth, 85). Northern Cambria’s Ben Strollo (96) was 11th.

Following Black were Northern Cambria’s Hunter Duriez (80), Huntingdon’s Matt Krupa (81), Tyrone’s Andrew Ferguson (83) and Hollidaysburg’s J.P. Duffy (87) and Payton Guelich (89). Hollidaysburg’s Allie Bihary (122) was fifth in the girls division. Cresson’s Gregory Caldwell (96) and Bedford’s John Imgrund (97) followed Garrity.

Summit

CRESSON – Darlene Grove and Michelle Day carded a 77 to win the gross division of Tuesday Summit Country Club’s Ladies Tri-County Tournament, while Gwen Paden and Patti Dodson (79) took second, and Anita Jo Petrusky and Deb Long (81) placed third.

Sandy Murphy and Carol Young won the net division with a 57, while Jeanette Madey and Phyllis Traino (59) took second, and Deb Showalter and Loane Maier (64) placed third. Skill prize winners were Jess Burlingame (closest tee shot on 4 and 8) and Bev Ricketts (closest tee shot on 12).

Philipsburg

PHILIPSBURG – Philipsburg’s Bo Sankey and Dave Byron were among those tying for third at 33 in the storm-shortened Fish Open at the Philipsburg Country Club on July 30. Philipsburg’s Nick Wasilko, Craig Wood, Jim Gilham and Andy Timchak tied for seventh at 34.

Timchak tied for second in the gross division, as was Philipsburg’s Nate Lucas. Philipsburg’s Michael Czap and Pat Brown were among those tying for fifth at 35.

Sinking Valley

TYRONE – Bob Brown, Jim Chestney, Joe Marinak and Steve Monehan took first place in the Sinking Valley man in the box senior event on July 30. John Graham, Ralph Hamilton, John Barnhart and Ted Crawford took second.

Sylvan Hills

HOLLIDAYSBURG – Dave and David Snyder scored a 139 to win the Oakmont Division of the Sylvan Hills Golf Club’s Member/Member Tournament last weekend, while Dave Johns and Terry Goldstein (149) took second.

Lynn Perry and George Sinisi won the Merion Division with a 156, while Joe Aungst Jr. and Dave Biselli (157) placed second. Jack Flude and Gary Zimmerman won the Fox Chapel Division with a 161, while Kirk Dodson and Ron Bowser (165) finished second.

Linda Zorger had longest drive on the sixth hole, and Carolyn Painter had the longest putt on the sixth in Tuesday’s Ladies Golf Association event at Sylvan Hills.

Huntingdon

HUNTINGDON – Fred Lear had the low gross of 33, and Gerald Huggler had the low net of 33 in the Big Orange Golf League at the Huntingdon Country Club.

Alan Herbster’s second shot on the 14th was a shot of the day, as was Jim Lakso’s birdie putt on 17 and Huggler’s birdie putt on 18.
