ProActive trips up Lilly

After winning its first nine games of the Altoona Greater City Baseball League’s season, Conrad Chiropractic/Lilly American Legion has finally lost.

Earlier this week, ProActive Sports played wonderfully in knocking off Conrad Chiropractic/Lilly American Legion, 4-1. Tom Smith, ProActive Sports’ player/manager, downplayed the victory, though.

“It wasn’t a big win,” Smith said. “It was just a regular-season game. It doesn’t mean much unless it was in the playoffs. It was just a win.”

Andy Smithmyer threw all six innings in a rain-shortened game to earn the victory. He struck out 11, walked three, allowed just one run and gave up just one run.

“Andy pitched very well,” Smith said. “He threw strikes and worked ahead.”
