DelBaggio captures Sinking Valley championship flight

TYRONE – Terry DelBaggio won the championship flight of the Sinking Valley Country Club’s Men’s Spring Match Play Championship, while Greg Ferguson took second.

Keith Walter won the first flight, while John Taylor was the runner-up. Tim Noye Jr. captured the second flight, while Steve Shank placed second. Jim Ray won the third flight, while Tom Getz was the runner-up. Bob Forshey won the fourth flight, while John Supina placed second. Don Christopher finished ahead of Zach Kensinger in the fifth flight.

Rob and Alycia Hippo won the Parent Child (Father’s Day) event with a 58, while Sherrie Buchanan and Rich Lloyd (59) placed second.

North East Juniors

ORE HILL – Hollidaysburg’s Grant Delozier carded a 78 and won the boys 16-18 Pine Valley Division of the North East Junior Golf Tour on Tuesday at Iron Masters Country Club. Hollidaysburg’s David Schraff (80) and David Snyder (81) were second and third, respectively.

Other winners included Huntingdon’s Matt Krupa, who won the boys 13-15 Pine Valley Division with an 83, Lilly’s Gregory Caldwell, who won the boys 10-12 Oakmont with a 100, and Bedford’s John Imgrun, who won the boys 10-12 Pine Valley with a 101.

Hollidaysburg’s Jesse Ottaway (80) tied for second in the boys 16-18 Oakmont, while Hollidaysburg’s Jerome Landry (82) was fourth. Philipsburg’s Payton Guelich (84) was second in the boys 13-15 Oakmont, while Northern Cambria’s Hunter Duriez (86) was third. Philipsburg’s Carter Fischer and Altoona’s Andrew Ferguson tied for fourth at 87.

Finishing second through eighth behind Krupa were Altoona’s John Paul Duffy (88), Tyrone’s Austin DelBaggio (88), Hollidaysburg’s Adam Rosenbaum (89), Tyrone’s Ethan Vipond (91), Altoona’s Nate Lawhead (93), Hollidaysburg’s J.J. Collins (106) and Martinsburg’s Seth Gunnett (110).

Hollidaysburg’s Quinn Garrity (104) was second behind Imgrun. Hollidaysburg’s Allie Bihary (133) was fourth in the girls division.

When the tour stopped at Glengarry Golf Links, Guelich won the boys 13-15 Pine Valley with an 84. Cresson’s Maddie Krug (88) took third in the boys 16-18 Pine Valley, while New Paris’ Kyler Pennabaker (89) was second in the boys 13-15 Oakmont.

At Cedarbrook Golf Club, Caldwell (106) finished fourth in the boys 10-12 Oakmont.

Summit

CRESSON – Karl Brustle, David Romani, Vince Sweeney and John Bahorik carded a 51 to win the first flight of the Mount Aloysius Scholarship Benefit-Celebrity Golf Outing (hosted by Sid Bream) at Summit Country Club.

Joe Adams, David DeGol Sr., Donald DeGol and Frank Frontino (53) finished second, while Brad Bush, Gabrielle Gueguen, Nate Hockenos and Jason Gervinski (60) placed third.

Mike Seidel, Jim Kohler, Tom Deter and Matt Donatelli won the second flight with a 55. Bill Ritenour, Gary Bradley, Jim Paskill and David Black (58) took second, while Tim Clark, John Poldiak, Frank Arcurio and Joe Dodson (59) finished third.

Jim Jacobs, Tom Berret, Jerry Neugebauer and Bill Wilkinson won the third flight with a 63. Michael McLanahan, Ken Dirsch, Craig Brennecke and Tom Moore (64) took second, while Pat Berardinelli, Todd Cover, Jason Yoder and James Soltis (64) placed third.

Skill prize winners were Dan Guelich (closest tee shot on 4), Aaron Ritchey (closest tee shot on 8), Jacobs (closest tee shot on 12), Chris Futrick (straighest drive on 6), Dan Rullo (longest putt on 15) and Dave Klementik (longest putt on 18).

Russ and Brent Krug won Flight A of the Father’s Day Tournament two-player scramble with 32 points, while Bernie and Guido Fabbri (28) finished second. Mike and Ian Dunmyer won Flight B with 27 points, while John and Joe Dziabo (23) placed second.

Vaughn and Ian Lewis took Flight C with 24 points, while Doug and Tanner Fogel (23) finished second. Jeff and Adam Gould won Flight D with 22 points, while the teams of Gregg and Brock Talko and Lefty and Mike Dziabo tied for second at 21.

Skill prize winners were Brent Krug (closest tee shot on 4), Doug Simanski (closest tee shot on 8), Gregg Talko (closest tee shot on 12) and Orlando Bullock (longest putt on 18).

Scotch Valley

HOLLIDAYSBURG – Dennis DeGol, Bryan James, Jerome Landry and Jordan Albright carded a 53 to win the Hollidaysburg Golden Tiger Golf Outing at Scotch Valley.

R.J. Albarano, Dave Snyder, David Snyder and Andy Aiken (54) finished second, while Mike Fitch DJ Michina, Dillon Link and Madison Fitch (55) placed third. In the U.S. Open Player Match, the team Mickey Sisto and Jason Day (129) took first, while Harry Duey and Jimmy Walker (137) took second.

Jonathan Rezk, Tim Holtz, Tom Boyle and Harvey Wargo won the Carmelite Community of the World event with a 56. Mike Castania, Mark McAneny, Neil McAneny and Tim McAneny (60) finished second.

Philipsburg

PHILIPSBURG – Craig and Jarrod Wood carded a 59 to win the net division of the Philipsburg Elks Lodge and Country Club Invitational on Saturday.

A.J. and Zack Czap (61) finished second, while Max Miller and Dave Belko tied with Nick Wasilko and Dave Byrone for third at 62.

Michael Czap and Craig Bradley won the gross division with a 68. Doug Goss and Jeff Lieb (69) took second, while Dave Arnold and Kelly Reifer (70) finished third. Todd Reifer and Tim Ronan tied with Scott Gray and Bill Sieg for fourth at 73.

Huntingdon

HUNTINGDON – Jay Pheasant and Quentin Dziabo won the championship flight of the Huntingdon Country Club’s Best Ball Match Play Tournament last weekend, defeating Hunter Shields and Bobby Mort.

Jerrod Smith and Kasey Kuhns won the first flight, defeating Rick Noonan and Cary Atherton. John Brown and Mark Ritko took the second flight over Steve Ritchey and Dale Wills. Charlie Lightner and Randy Fickes defeated R.J. Albarano and Dave Snyder.

Jared Colmer and Buddy Brennen defeated Tom and Dave Sasser to win the fourth flight, while Kraig Kiesewetter and Bob Pleva won the fifth flight over Brandon and Dave Soellner.

In the beaten 8s, Andy Fouse and Ryan Franks won the championship flight, while Ryan Coder and Terry Barnhardt took the first flight. Dave Colmer and Dan Green won the second flight, while Larry Clapper and Mitch Lynn took the third flight. Hank Van Veenendaal and Jack Wassom won the fourth flight, while Bill Bratton and Steve Stiffler won the fifth.

Al Weyandt placed first in the Wednesday Night Shootout on June 11 with a net 32, one stroke better than Smith, Fouse and Craig Wood.

Phil Thompson had the low gross of 36 in the Big Orange Golf League, while Ron Bargiel had the low net of 33. Larry Newton’s eagle putt on 11 was a shot of the day, as was Jim Lakso’s drive and tap-in for birdie on the 12th hole.

Standing Stone

HUNTINGDON – The Bellwood team of Rick Kensinger, Chuck Erickson, Art Partner and Jeff Nycum won a tiebreaker against Huntingdon’s Russ Sharpless, Matt Sharpless, Matt Souders and Pat Goodman after both teams carded 11 under par at the Jack Bailey Memorial Golf Outing on June 8 at Standing Stone Golf Course.

West Penn Amateurs

UNIVERSITY PARK – Altoona’s Artie Fink Jr. carded a 54-hole total of 221 in the West Penn Amateur Championship at the Penn State golf courses – 15 strokes behind the winner.
