Tyrone graduate receives PSAC baseball honor

Jordan Faretta, a Tyrone graduate, was named as the first-team second baseman on the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference’s All-Conference team for his efforts on the Slippery Rock baseball squad this season.

Through 40 games played, Faretta was hitting .296 with four doubles, a home run and 20 RBIs.

Hollidaysburg graduate Jordan Kirsch helped the Messiah College golf team capture the Middle Atlantic Conference title by shooting rounds of 84 and 80.

Kirsch’s efforts garnered him a spot on the second-team All-Conference squad.

Ally Kristofco, a Bishop Guilfoyle graduate who is the all-time winningest tennis player at Wilkes, helped the Lady Colonels win their eighth straight Freedom Conference title.

Kristofco teamed with Ana English to win doubles matches against Eastern and King’s. She won the first set at No. 1 singles in each contest before the team match was decided, thus ending those singles matches.

Chris Carper, an Altoona graduate, won the Northeast Conference javelin championship for the second consecutive year with a throw of 220 feet, 10 inches while competing with the Robert Morris track and field team.

Three local competitors helped Penn State win the Kehoe Twilight Track and Field Meet at Maryland on Friday.

Aaron Nadolsky, an Altoona graduate, finished fourth in the 400-meter dash. Fellow Altoona graduate Wade Endress took third in the 800-meter run, and Bellwood-Antis graduate Brian Leap finished second in both the long and triple jump.

Northern Bedford graduate Cassie Beach qualified for the PSAC championship meet with a javelin toss of 122 feet, 6 inches for the Lock Haven track and field team at Cornell.

The St. Francis women’s 400 relay team claimed the silver medal recently at the Northeast Conference championships.

The relay team made up of Mykael Dixon, Carly Petney – a graduate of Penn?Cambria – Keisha-wnna Burts and Brittany Johnson ran a 46.79.

Overall, the Red Flash women finished in fifth place at the event.
