Tussey Mountain tennis swept

The Tussey Mountain high school tennis team saw its season come to an end in the PIAA Class AA first round after a 5-0 loss to District 7 runner-up Mars the at Summit Tennis & Athletic Club Tuesday afternoon.

Charles May and Stephen Willis played the closest match, losing to Alex Grubner and Noah Raymundo, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 1 doubles.

“Although today’s results weren’t what we were hoping for, we had a great season and our players can be proud of all they were able to accomplish,” Tussey Mountain coach Paul Brumbaugh said. “Our seniors provided good leadership throughout the season, and we wish them the best in their future plans.”

The Titans’ Iacapo Ricci and John Clark, the District 5 doubles champions, will play next Thursday in the PIAA doubles tournament in Hershey.

Panthers cruise

LOYSBURG – Jonathan Petrou, Jacob Dasher and Jonathan Gorman each drove in two runs for the Northern Bedford high school baseball team as it defeated Claysburg-Kimmel, 11-1, in five innings.

Altoona sweeps

Josh Huber had 12 kills and six blocks for Altoona as it swept Huntingdon, 25-10, 25-19, 25-21, in high school volleyball action.

Kody Clawson added 16 digs for Altoona, while Matt Wilson had 10 kills for Huntingdon.
