BG spikes Altoona

Bishop Guilfoyle handed Altoona its first loss, 25-10, 25-21, 25-15, at the Pleasant Vally Gymnasium, avenging its only loss on Thursday in high school boys’ volleyball.

BG’s Jamey Brumbaugh recorded 11 digs and went over 1,000 digs for his career, giving him 1,009.

“It’s a great milestone for Jamey,” BG coach Ben Kasun said. “He performs everything team first and led us tonight with a total team effort. It was a great accomplishment for Jamey.”

BG also got key play from Damon Rickens (10 kills), Ben Kasun (eight kills, 33 assists, four blocks) and Sam Keating (11 service points, four aces, 10 digs). Altoona was led by Kody Clawson (nine digs), Josh Huber (seven blocks), Brett Koelle (nine kills) and Frank Perehinec (six kills).

Bearcats beat Dragons

HUNTINGDON – Matt Sellers had 15 service points and 20 kills as Huntingdon outlasted Central, 24-26, 25-10, 24-26, 26-24, 15-13.

Mike Sulesky added five kills and six digs for Huntingdon, while Matt Price had 26 kills for Central.


CENTRAL: Little 11, Madden 11, Price 9, Berkhimer 9, Eskinja 5, Gahagan 4.

HUNTINGDON: Sellers 15, Kidd 13, Thompson 11, Sulesky 9, Wilson 8, McKim 7.

Carroll junior sweep

BELLWOOD – Bishop Carroll Catholic defeated Bellwood-Antis, 25-13, 25-13, in girls’ junior high volleyball on Thursday. Anna Kline had six service points and Paige Kirkpatrick had eight digs for Bishop Carroll.
