Yusko helps keep PC undefeated

CRESSON – Kelly Yusko struck out 13 batters, bringing her season total to 111 and 395 for her career, as unbeaten Penn Cambria edged Cambria Heights, 2-1, in a matchup of Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference opponents in high school softball Monday.

Yusko also shined offensively for the Lady Panthers as well, hitting a double and triple.

Kate Little singled, tripled and drove in a run, McKenzie McIntosh had two hits and drove in a run, and Caitlyn Sheehan contributed a double for Penn Cambria, now 13-0.

EBENSBURG – Winning pitcher Abby Simmons smacked a grand slam, doubled and singled, while also striking out eight and walking none as Bishop Carroll downed Forest Hills in six innings.

Brooke Mento collected two hits and drove in two teammates as the Lady Huskies improved to 8-2.

Courtney Link totaled three hits for BC, and Sarah Gomish hit a solo homer.

CLAYSBURG – Hannah Claycomb pitched a two-hitter, struck out seven and walked no one in leading Claysburg-Kimmel to a win over Moshannon Valley.

Claycomb also added two hits and an RBI. Teammate Whitney Helsel led the winners with three hits, including a triple, and two RBIs, while Mallory Cox added two hits and an RBI.

Moshannon Valley got a solo RBI effort from Megan Zimmerman.
