College signing: Dylan Conrad, UPJ baseball

Name: Dylan Conrad

High school: Altoona Area

Hometown: Altoona

Sport: Baseball

Position: Catcher

College choice: University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown

Other colleges considered: Mount St. Mary’s

Why I picked UPJ: “When I went on my visit there, Coach [Todd] Williams really made me realize that UPJ is the place I want to spend the next four years of my life and call it home.”

Greatest high school achievement: “Competing day in and day out with my teammates whom I consider family.”

Coach Tom Smith’s quote: “Dylan’s a two-year starter and three-year varsity player. UPJ is a good fit for him. He should do well. As a catcher, he has a very good arm. He’s really improved defensively. He’s always had the strong arm, but he’s picking up his play in other areas.”

How I got my start playing baseball: “I got my start when I was about 5 playing for Greenwood Meadows at Logan Township Little League. My dad was the coach, and he threw me in there with all of the big guys at the time. That’s when I fell in love with baseball.”

Favorite college growing up: Pitt

Other interests: Hanging out with my best friend watching WWE and watching the Philadelphia Flyers.

What getting to play in college means to me: “Having a chance to accomplish my dream and get a quality education while doing something I love in playing baseball.”
