Guilfoyle gets sweep over CC

Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic swept Central Cambria, 5-0, in high school tennis action Thursday at Mansion Park.

Jim Burke, Dom D’Andrea and Nick Centar won singles matches, while Danny Sullivan and Vincent D’Andrea and Matt Keefer and Brennan Nale teamed up to win doubles contests.

Bishop Guilfoyle improved to 2-0. It was the season opener for the Red Devils.

Tussey edges ‘Cats

SAXTON – John Clark and Neal Smith won singles matches, and Clark teamed with Iacopo Ricci and Smith teamed with Charles May as the Titans swept the doubles competition in a 4-3 victory over Huntingdon to open both team’s season.

Taylor Mitchell and John Hark won singles matches for the Bearcats, who lost the No. 1 doubles match in a tiebreaker.

Good day for Bisons

BEDFORD – The Bedford boys opened their season with a 5-0 win over Forest Hills, which fell to 0-3.

The Bisons got singles wins from Sabastian Jean-Aluja, Kevin McDaniel and Ben Windows, along with doubles victories from David Cain and Tyler Sprigg, and Dwarkesh Amin and Keith McDaniel.
