HERSHEY – Huntingdon was stopped short of a run to a medal at the PIAA Class AA Duals with a 31-27 loss to Burrell in the consolation quarterfinals at the Giant Center Saturday in high school wrestling action.
Burrell went 3-0 on the day, the win over the Bearcats was the Bucs’ closest meet. Burrell beat Hamburg, 42-22, in the consolation semifinals and Boiling Springs, 45-20, in the consy finals.
One of the key bouts was the first one, a 1-0 Robert Scherer win over Huntingdon’s Mitchell Laurer at 195. The Bucs won the next three bouts by either pin or forfeit for a 21-0 lead.
Collin Glorioso (113) and Matt Norris (182) had the only pins for the Bearcats (20-3).
Bethlehem Catholic won its fourth straight Class AA title with a 41-15 win over Reynolds. Franklin Regional won the Class AAA title with a 37-23 win over Latrobe. Nazareth beat Cumberland Valley, 39-18, to take third place.

Glendale shines at invite
ALEXANDRIA – Glendale had four champions and eight finalists and won the team title of the Juniata Valley Invitational by 34.5 points, 175-140.5, over defending champion Central.
Glendale’s Jett Sacolic (120), Jon Rojas (132), Kyle Stewart (160) and Ray Carlheim (220) won titles, and teammates Tommy Kovach (106), Patrick Johnson (126), Brandon Simmers (195) and Kody Ness (285) finished second.
Central had five champions in Brock Biddle (113), Ethan Kennedy (126), Nick Hoenstine (138), Mike Mock (152) and Jared Ponder (182). Bryce Biddle (132) finished second.
